Varsity football defeats Herndon, faces McLean tonight at home

The Hype Squad supports the varsity football team in last week’s game versus Herndon. The game was a white-out.

Varsity football defeated Herndon 10-7 last week in the Baron Cameron Bowl. This is the third time in four years that Seahawks claimed victory and the first time in team history that they have won consecutive bowl games.The game was 0-0 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Seahawks broke the tie with a touchdown run by senior Akram Gibreel.

However, Herndon came back and tied the game with less than ten minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

As time expired, senior kicker Matt Kearns made the game-winning field goal.

The Seahawks improved to 2-1 and have a winning record for the first time since the 2010 season. They play tonight at home versus McLean at 7:30 p.m.

Earlier in the week, both freshman and JV teams defeated the McLean Highlanders. Freshmen won 52-25 and JV won with a score of 30-13. JV is undefeated with two wins while the freshman team won its first game of the season after tying Herndon last week.

The Hype Squad encourages students to participate in the tie-dye theme for tonight’s varsity game which begins at 7:30 p.m. in the stadium.
